The city of Hollywood taking a preemptive strike against flooding on the beach by installing "Tiger dams" along the Broadwalk. Spokeswoman Joann Hussey says the bright orange barriers are about two feet high and fifty feet long and can be filled with water to block flooding. She says the goal is to prevent the sand from going onto the broadwalk because it all has to be sifted during cleanup and the process is time consuming and costly. The city spent 200-thousand-dollars from the community redevelopment fund to buy the dams.
