(Miami, Fla) - Republican Florida Congressman Carlos Gimenez voted against Jim Jordan as Speaker of the House.

Instead, Gimenez cast his vote for the former Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

He told Manny Munoz that he has not changed his mind since Speaker McCarthy was removed from the position two weeks ago.

The House vote on Rep. Jim Jordan as Speaker is underway this afternoon.

Critics of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) point out that he has yet to get a bill signed into law since being elected in 2006.

“House Republicans have just elected a speaker nominee who in 16 years in this Congress hasn’t passed a single bill,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said Friday, “because his focus has not been on the American people.”

Florida Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart cast his vote for Steve Scalise as Speaker while Rep.Matt Gaetz who unseated McCarthy cast his vote for Jordan.
