A Palm Beach County businessman is spreading a message of unity amid the violence in the Middle East.
"I'm looking for unity and tolerance as a nation to understand what took place in Israel and that it will never happen in the United States."
Craig Siegler has interviewed several Holocaust survivors for the Steven Spielberg-founded Shoah Foundation and he was interviewed by the Palm Beach County School District last year and that video is shown to students learning about the Holocaust.
Siegler was first moved by an encounter with two Holocaust survivors when he was young. They were a couple who owned a deli in his Chicago neighborhood and would send food when his father fell ill.
"How ironic it was, here we have Holocaust survivors now saving our lives."
Now, he's made it his mission to ensure nobody ever forgets the atrocities.
"Once these people are gone, too many people will say that the Holocaust never happened and we have to make sure that that will never happen again."
Upon hearing about some Black Lives Matter chapters showing support to Hamas in its attack on Israel, Siegler is calling on Black leaders around the state to help him create a coalition to help bring communities together. He feels Jews and Blacks can learn from each other.
"And so I want to reach out to every Black leader in our state, in our community, in our country, to create a coalition by which we can help unite, inform, educate and bring our communities, our people together."
Siegler would like Black leaders to contact him at craig@liquidoxygen.com.
