Miami Gardens, FL - Police have arrested a convicted felon more than a month after he allegedly raped a sex worker at gunpoint in the West Little River area of northwest Miami-Dade.
According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, 37-year-old Charles Linburg Dawkins Jr. picked up the victim in the vicinity of Northwest 27th Avenue and 87th Street shortly after midnight on August 22nd.
Dawkins allegedly agreed to pay the woman $150 for 10 minutes of sex, but instead drove her to Northwest 103rd Street and 30th Avenue.
When the agreed-upon time was up, the woman asked Dawkins to take her back to her pickup location.
Instead, Dawkins allegedly produced a gun and sexually assaulted her.
After the assault, Dawkins drove the victim back to where he picked her up, stole her purse and iPhone, and fled the scene.
The victim spotted Dawkins recently, leading to his arrest. He declined to speak with officers without an attorney.
At the time of his arrest, Dawkins was on probation until 2027.
State records indicate that he had been imprisoned from October 2009 to July 2022 after being convicted of various charges, including attempted murder, armed robbery, and grand theft auto.
Dawkins is currently being held at Miami-Dade’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of armed sexual battery and grand theft.
He is being held without bond.
