A man working at a clothing store popular with teens and skateboarders has been busted for selling what some people call 'magic mushrooms' from behind the counter.
Chief Deputy John Budensiek with the Martin County Sheriff's Office says 27-year old Patrick McMahon sold the hallucinogens to undercover detectives while working at Zumiez at the Treasure Coast Square Mall.
"The mall should be a safe place for families to go, for youths to go and just hang out and shop. And parents should not have to worry about people selling illegal drugs from behind the counter."
He tells CBS 12 News that McMahon told those undercover agents that he had been selling the mushrooms for a year, but only for a couple of months at the store.
He's concerned that minors may have been some of those who've bought from the suspect.
Investigators will also try to determine whether McMahon was working alone.
"Right now he looks like a one-off, but we don't know. So we made the arrest. We seized his phone so we'll go through that information and we'll be able to tell in the future who all was involved in this operation."
