Two lawsuits have been filed in connection to a November 2019 arrest by West Palm Beach Police.

A man in his 60's claims he is still in pain after being punched in the face multiple times by Officer Nicholas Lordi. The incident was caught on surveillance video.

"Terrible. Very sick. I've had my nose problem, my eyes because he beat me up in my eyes. My head is still traumatized. It's a nightmare for me. I can hardly do anything for myself."

The police report states that Lordi was responding to a trespassing incident at a grocery store on Broadway Avenue, and that John Monroque was refusing to be handcuffed.

The excessive force suit was filed in federal court against the police department.

"Once he's on the ground, Nicholas Lordi starts to punch John repeatedly in the face, in his head."

Monroque's attorney Fan Li says the incident was caught on surveillance video and also shows Lordi kneeling on Monroque's neck or face. Another officer is also named in the lawsuit for failing to intervene.

The suit, filed in federal court on Tuesday, claims Lordi had been the subject of 40 internal affairs investigations in his four years with the force up to the time of the 2019 incident.

The officer was arrested in 2022 after an FDLE investigation, but prosecutors declined to charge him.

Li, has also filed suit in state court against Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge No. 2, the local police union, and its president for defamation.

"Adam Myers and the police union called John a violent felon."

He says that's not the case.

We've reached out to the Police Department, but a spokesman says they can't comment because they have not reviewed the lawsuit, but they note that Nicholas Lordi is no longer employed with the agency.
