More than a million dollars worth of illegal drugs have been seized during two different busts on the Treasure Coast this week.

In Port St. Lucie, a man known as "Candy Man" was taken into custody.

Police Chief Richard Del Toro says Radames Guzman was caught with 10,000 fentanyl pills.

"We just saved potentially 10,000 people from an overdose situation. I mean, that is a significant amount of drugs to take off the streets."

The pills were valued at around $300,000 and detectives also seized other illegal drugs and firearms.

"I mean, 10,000 pills. I mean, you don't even see that at really at the border."

Del Toro says Guzman was selling the drugs from his business, R and S Xotic Snackz, calling it the largest fentanyl seizure in the city's history.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office is touting an unrelated "large-scale" drug bust, involving nearly 3 pounds of fentanyl, 11 pounds of cocaine and ten pounds of so-called "magic mushrooms."

Seven suspects were arrested, ranging in age from 20 to 67.

Sheriff Ken Mascara says the drugs, which also included marijuana and a codeine and methamphetamine mixture called 'Lean,' were being sold out of four smoke shops and a house.

He says the seizure included the equivalent of 600-thousand lethal doses of fentanyl.

"The amount of fentanyl seized during this investigation could have killed every person in St. Lucie County, Martin County and Indian River County."

A detective who worked on the Sheriff's Office case says that these raids will send a message to make other drug dealers afraid to do their business on the Treasure Coast. But he admits that the demand is "always going to bring them back up. So, we'll still be fighting this battle."
