South Florida Man Arrested for Assaulting Girlfriend with Wooden Makeup Box

Miami-Dade, FL - A man was taken into custody on Wednesday after allegedly headbutting his girlfriend and striking her with a wooden makeup box during a heated verbal argument at their South Florida apartment.

Miami-Dade police say 54-year-old Jose Cebey is facing charges of aggravated battery with great bodily harm and battery.

The incident unfolded around 3:40 p.m. at the couple's apartment while a maintenance worker was repairing the door.

Police say that the argument between Cebey and his girlfriend escalated, leading to Cebey headbutting the victim in the living room.

Cebey then pursued the victim into her bedroom, where he grabbed her by the ears and verbally insulted her.

As the argument persisted, Cebey returned to the bedroom and hurled a wooden makeup box at the victim's face, causing a laceration on her forehead's left side.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to Baptist Health Hospital, where she received liquid stitches for her injury.

Cebey was questioned by the Miami-Dade Police Department's Special Victim's Bureau, where he denied all allegations made by the victim.

Subsequently, Cebey was arrested and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
