Miami-Dade County, FL - A man appeared in court on Monday after being charged in connection to a shooting that occurred outside of a South Florida nightclub on Sunday.
According to detectives, Ramiro Hernandez allegedly fired a weapon at two men outside of El Palenque, a nightclub located at 1115 NW 22 Ave., just east of Fern Isle Park.
The victims were identified as brothers, one of which sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Emergency personnel from Fire Rescue transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
Hernandez informed detectives that he'd been present at the nightclub but denied shooting either of the victims.
Sgt. Eladio Paez reports that a witness observed Hernandez buying drinks for one of the victims at the bar before an argument ensued between them.
Police say one of the victims reportedly challenged Hernandez to go outside and fight.
Detectives interviewed a witness who claimed to have seen Hernandez fleeing to his vehicle while being pursued by two men in the parking lot.
The witness further stated that a physical altercation occurred, and once Hernandez was inside his car, he rolled down the window and fired multiple shots at the victims, one of which struck the victim in the head.
Detectives apprehended Hernandez on Sunday and he was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center around 11:10 p.m.
Prior to Sunday's shooting, Hernandez was wanted in connection with two separate cases involving sexual battery, cocaine possession, and resisting arrest.
As a result, officers are holding Hernandez without bond on the warrant related to the sexual battery charges.
Hernandez is now facing two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon in relation to Sunday's shooting.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
