Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of Transgender Woman in Florida Karaoke Bar

Miami, FL - A man was taken into custody after he allegedly sexually assaulted a transgender woman in a South Florida karaoke bar's bathroom.

According to an arrest report from the City of Miami Police Department, officers arrested 25-year-old Luigi Andre Cavan on charges of sexual battery.

The incident occurred at the Sweet Caroline Karaoke Bar located at 1111 SW 1st Ave.

The victim, a 31-year-old transgender woman, told police that she entered the restroom alone when Cavani allegedly grabbed her hand and forcibly pulled her into a single-stall bathroom.

Cavan proceeded to unbutton the victim's pants, despite her repeated pleas for him to stop and her attempts to push him away.

Following the assault, the victim's friends confronted Cavani, to which he reportedly responded, "I'm sorry, I thought it was cool."

Upon reporting the sexual assault to police, Cavani voluntarily visited a police station and claimed that he believed the encounter had been consensual.

He expressed his intention to clarify what transpired, emphasizing that he would never engage in such behavior and asserting that he would never force himself on anyone.

Juan Marcos Rancaño, the co-founder and co-owner of Sweet Caroline Karaoke Bar, revealed that Cavani worked for a security company that the bar had subcontracted, and that the bar severed its contract with the security company following the alleged assault.

Cavani was charged with sexual battery and posted a $25,000 bail bond.
