A student at Wellington High School has been arrested for posting threats on social media, aimed at the school.
The post was found on Instagram, featuring a picture of a handgun and the caption reading "school gonna be fun."
Wellington High's principal sent an email to parents around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, explaining that law enforcement was investigating and thanking those who reported their concerns through the Fortify Florida app.
A few hours later, the Palm Beach County School District announced that after an investigation, school district police and the Sheriff's Office concluded that a crime was committed and a student was arrested.
In addition to a charge of written threats, which is a second degree felony, the student faces strict discipline as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
There was an increased police presence on campus Thursday.
