Man arrested after rampage, challenging peoeple to fight after bars close

Cape Coral, FL - Police in Southwest Florida arrested a half-naked man who challenged officers to a drunken wrestling match early Saturday morning.

Authorities say police responded to a report of a half-naked man causing chaos and assaulting people on the streets of Cape Coral early Saturday morning.

Police found Kyle Shonkwiler, who was acting as the "self-imposed mayor" of a group of people, in a drunken state, with his pants hanging down to expose his boxers, not wearing shoes or a shirt, and clear evidence of being over-served.

Shonkwiler's arrest report noted a "strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from his persons."

When officer's tried to talk to Shonkwiler, he became fixated on a group of women and stumbled away.

As Emergency Medical Services arrived to check on Shonkwiler, he started making physical threats to bystanders, shouting, "watch out! Don't get beat up," and adding incoherently, "don't get your [expletive] caught on the pony."

Shonkwiler's strange responses turned to physical threats and he demanded a wrestling match with officers and asked one officer to punch him.

Shonkwiler then turned to the crowd and yelled "I'll [expletive] your [expletive] up."

The officers had to push Shonkwiler into a seated position while detaining him on charges of disorderly conduct.
