Accused Pillowcase Rapist Convicted

A Miami-Dade jury has returned a guilty verdict in the trial of South Florida's so-called Pillowcase Rapist.

Even though Robert Koehler is accused of raping possibly dozens of women in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties in the early and mid-1980s, this trial was for one burglary, kidnapping and sexual battery in Miami-Dade in 1983.

During closing arguments, prosecutors reminded jurors Koehler stabbed the then 25-year-old's abdomen, threatened to kill her if she screamed and when she tried to lift the blanket he put over her head, he hit her.

Koehler claims his DNA was planted at crime scenes by crooked cops.

The defense points to a shoe print and palm print recovered at the crime scene that did not match Koehler.

Plus, Koehler has children, and the man who raped the victim was likely sterile.

The now 63-year-old could be sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
