A candidate in one of two Palm Beach County School Board races headed to a run-off is evoking enthusiasm after the primary.
"I can say for myself that I'm up for the task, ready to get it done. And we're going to make it happen in November."
Incumbent Marcia Andrews, a 12-year member of the board, captured 48 percent of the vote in a race where she had four challengers.
But she didn't get the required 50 percent, plus one vote needed to avoid a run-off in November. So Andrews will face the second highest vote-getter in the primary, Jennifer Showalter, who got 18 percent of the vote on Tuesday in District 6.
Showalter, a "parental rights" candidate, claims that shows parents want change.
Andrews says she wasn't surprised to not win outright, because of all of the candidates in the race.
"With five people in the race it doesn't happen that way. Different people have different ideas, so you have to educate those people about what you are and what you can do."
We'll be reaching back out to Showalter and Andrews ahead of the General Election.
Meanwhile, check out Andrews' comments here.
The other Palm Beach County School Board run-off is in District 7, where longtime board member Dr. Debra Robinson did not seek re-election.
Edwin Ferguson and Corey Michael Smith led the way in a three-candidate race, but neither got enough votes to avoid a November run-off.
