Fallen Miami-Dade Police Officer Honored

A Miami-Dade detective, killed in the line of duty, honored today.

Hundreds of first responders standing by to pay their respects as Detective Cesar Echaverry's body was transported from Jackson Memorial Hospital to the county Medical Examiner's Office.

Former Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez says the Robbery Intervention Detail, which Detective Echaverry was a part of, receives special training.

Detective Echaverry was shot Monday while pursuing a robbery suspect and succumbed to his injuries two days later.

He was 29.

A procession today to honor a fallen Miami-Dade police officer.

The body of Detective Cesar Echaverry will be moved from Jackson Memorial Hospital to the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner's Department this morning.

Detective Echaverry died Wednesday night, two days after he was shot trying to apprehend a robbery suspect.

Today's procession is set to being at 10, no word yet on funeral plans for Detective Echaverry.

He was 29 years old.
