A Polk County Fire Rescue Captain has been arrested on more than two dozen child pornography counts.
Sheriff's Office says 40-year-old Brian Steger told detectives he'd set up an internet account at Fire Station #26 in Lake Wales for his own use. When investigators found the computer, it was actively downloading pornography files.
"One of the most important kinds of investigation we do is identifying those who are distributing child pornography," said Sheriff Grady Judd. "Those who download, view, and exchange these terrible images and videos fuel the market for exploitative images that are dependent upon the continued and ongoing sexual abuse of children."
If any additional files containing child pornography are found, Steger could be charged accordingly.
Steger has resigned from Fire Rescue.
