The summer break is over as Palm Beach County kids head back to school.

There are no restrictions to any in-person after-school activities this year connected to COVID and this should be a "normal" school year, according to school district leaders. Students whose parents have given written consent to have them tested for COVID if they show symptoms, will be tested in those cases and sent home for a number of days.

The school district will not be keeping up a COVID dashboard like last year.

Palm Beach County School District leaders, at a back-to-school press conference last week, said they are prepared to follow the new state education laws like the Parental Rights in Education which bans teaching of sexual orientation or gender identity in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

Something to keep in mind if your child rides the school bus, there is still a shortage of bus drivers in Palm Beach County, so delays should be expected.

Schools also reopened to students on the Treasure Coast on Wednesday.
