Law enforcement is working with some child care centers in Florida to make those places more secure.

Ashley Connors, director of the Hobe Sound Early Learning Center, tells CBS 12 News that the elementary school shooting in Texas made her realize changes should be made.

"It was kind of a wake-up call in the sense of what do we have in place right now that could be an immediate fix in that sense of making our building more secure."

The Martin County Sheriff's Office held a meeting on Tuesday for preschool operators, on ways to better protect children under 5.

Restricting access to areas of the property where children are located was one suggestion, along with keeping doors locked.
