Miami Marlins Hosting Community Events During Impact Week

The Miami Marlins are focusing on more than just baseball this week.

For the fourth year in a row, the team aiming to hit a home run in the community with its Impact Week.

"We have seven days of community impact that's really going to make a difference in South Florida. Everything from celebrating a Youth Gamechanger for the work they're doing in the comunity to having during Armed Forces Weekend a group of 75 soldiers that will be sworn-in," says Marlins Foundation Executive Director Rocky Egusquiza.

Tuesday celebrates Girls In STEAM programs. It will give 25 a chance to learn from the Marlins' female executives including General Manager Kim Ng. "When you see it, you believe it, and you realize there's a role, there's a place, and there's an incredible opportunity for you to grow within the sport."

Egusquiza says another day is centered around making sure the team supports student athletes' mental health.

She adds, the driving force for this week is to work with the community in the three pillars of the foundation: wellness, empowerment and youth baseball.
