FL Attorney General: Statewide Crime Tip Line Goes Nationwide

KISSIMMEE -- A crime tip line instituted by Florida's attorney general is going coast to coast.

Florida instituted a statewide crime tip line just over a year ago, and now state attorney general Ashley Moody says it's going nationwide.

The national group Crime Stoppers USA, which promotes crime tiplines nationwide, is behind the arrangement. Now tipsters nationwide can use

(* * TIPS) and get routed to the office in their own service area.

Moody says that with homicides rising in many places, unsolved cases "create a public distrust of law enforcement and the criminal justice system as a whole."
