Emotions and school board meetings go hand in hand these days and that was the case Wednesday night in Palm Beach County, where parents spoke out against masking up their kids.

"This is not for children. This is not for people who have a brain."

There were also some who wanted the school board to reverse course on the plan to make masks optional.

"Isn't protecting the children and staff more important than quieting the noise?"

Ultimately, the school board chairman notified the crowd that a vote wasn't even going to happen and the plan to make facemasks optional remains in place next school year.

Kids return to in-person class, with no remote option, on August 10th and one board member wanted to examine the back-to-school plans amid a surge in COVID cases.

The school board also unanimously voted in favor of making current School District CFO Michael Burke the Interim Superintendent, but didn't decide on a plan for hiring a permanent replacement for outgoing Superintendent Donald Fennoy.
