Wounded Daytona Beach officer identified as manhunt continues for suspect

The Daytona Beach police officer shot in the head Wednesday night investigating suspicious activity has been identified as 26 year old Jason Raynor. Raynor remains in critical condition following surgery. Police Chief Jakari Young says an intense manhunt continues for suspect Othal Wallace. The chief says they're anxious to get this guy off the street.

"You can tell by what's been posted on social media that this guy's heartless," Chief Young said. "His heart is pure malice. He could care less. He did that with zero remorse- you can tell."

Chief Young says the shooting has left his department reeling but he's telling his officers that they can't let evil win and they've got to continue serving their community.

"They're extremely upset, they're extremely frustrated but I have to remind them that even though we have this one coward try to kill our cop in the parking lot, there were other folks in that same apartment complex that came down to render aid."

A $100 thousand reward is being offered for information leading to Wallace's arrest. Detectives say Wallace may be driving a grey 2016 Honda H-R-V with a California tag and he may be in Georgia..
