Activists Want Governor To Move Up Special Election For Alcee Hastings Seat

More calls coming for the governor to move up the proposed special primary election to fill the seat of the late Congressman Alcee Hastings. The NAACP and civil rights activists want Governor DeSantis to nix his executive order to hold a special primary election to fill Hasting's seat in November with the General Election set for January. State Senator Shevrin Jones says the governor's schedule is simply undemocratic, leaving 800-thousand people without representation for 9- months. He wants the governor to push the primary up to August 31st with a special general election November 2nd. So far, no response from DeSantis.
