Miami-Dade Commissioners Set Special Meeting To Appoint New Commissioner

Miami-Dade commissioners meeting in-person without the mayor today. Daniella Levine Cava is joining virtually after announcing she and her husband have tested positive for COVID-19. Commission Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa says this should serve as a warning to all to not let their coronavirus guards down. Commissioners were expected to appoint a new commissioner to the District 8 seat vacated by Mayor Cava, but they want to open the process up to more candidates. So they've decided to hold a special meeting at noon Monday. Anyone who wants to apply must submit a resume to the county auditor by noon Thursday.
