FWC Identifies Biologist Killed In A Boat Crash This Week

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has identified the civilian employee who was killed in a boat crash along the C-51 canal this week.

29-year old Fisheries Biologist Dana Katz of Hypoluxo lost her life when an FWC boat she was on collided with a concrete piling in the canal near Congress Avenue and Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach on Tuesday.

Two other civilian employees were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A statement from the agency says they are "deeply saddened" by the tragic death of Katz.

It notes that the other two employees remain in stable condition and an investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff's Office Marine Unit.
