Florida Woman Attacked by Alligator

A Florida woman is on the mend after she was attacked by a 10-foot, 4-inch alligator, authorities say.

The 27-year-old Fort Meyers resident was trimming trees in her yard, which is located on the edge of a lake, when the giant gator suddenly emerged from the water and began biting her legs, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Despite the reptile's size, she managed to get away. She's in the hospital and the alligator has been taken to an alligator farm, per the commission.

The September 10th incident occurred just three days before a Port Lucie man also suffered alligator bites to his legs, the FWCC reports.

He was walking his dog when an 8-foot gator emerged from the water, clamped onto his leg and tried to drag him into a pond, police say.

The man, 61-year-old Mark Johnson, escaped after he poked the gator in the eye, he says.
