Governor praises theme parks for mitigating virus spike.

During Monday's COVID-19 update from The Villages in Sumter County Governor Ron DeSantis gave Florida's theme parks thumbs-up as the state battles an ongoing spike in cases.

"I'm really impressed with what Universal has done," Governor DeSantis said, "and I've looked at Disney's plan and it's very, very thorough."

Disney's Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom reopen this coming Saturday with Epcot and Hollywood Studios reopening the following Wednesday. Universal Orlando reopened last month.

Disney will require guests and cast members to undergo temperature checks before they're allowed to enter the park. All guests two and older will be required to wear a mask while in the park. Face coverings will also be required of cast members.

Guests will be required to practice social distancing and a 'Social Distancing Squad' made up of cast members will politely remind guests to spread out.

Capacity will be reduced in the theme parks as well as retail stores and restaurants.
