Four Teens Charged With Arson For Fire That Destroyed Historic Train Depot

Delray Beach Train Depot Fire

Four teenagers face arson charges for a fire that destroyed a historic structure in Delray Beach.

An old train station that was built in 1927 and used for that purpose until 1991 went up in flames on Tuesday.

A Delray Beach firefighter was injured when he was knocked to the ground by the force of the flames as he entered the building. He was taken to the hospital and treated for burns to his neck and ears before being released.

The building is off Atlantic Avenue, just west of I-95 and Tri-Rail service was disrupted for a time.

Surveillance video shows the four kids, ages 15 to 17, running and all of them had been identified and located before the fire was put out.

The train depot is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The city purchased it in 2005 and had been talking about renovating the building.
