A negligence/wrongful death suit is filed in Broward Circuit Court against Tesla in the case of a Dania Beach anesthesiologist who died after being trapped in his burning car after a crash. 48-year-old Dr. Omar Awan lost control, hitting a palm tree in Davie last February. He survived the crash, but was trapped in the Model S Tesla when the lithium-ion battery caught fire and the futuristic doors wouldn't open. His wife, Dr. Liliana Awan, says she's suing on behalf of her 5 children who can't stop asking questions about their dad.Dr. Awan had no internal injuries or broken bones. He died from the smoke inhalation as he sat trapped inside the burning car.
