- Miami-based City Labs is set to make space history. The company, which became the first to adapt nuclear batteries for use in space, is set to launch the first nuclear-powered spacecraft as part of a SpaceX-led mission. The nuclear-powered satellite is scheduled to be deployed by a SpaceX rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California today.
- The Martin County School District is the latest to announce layoffs as part of a reorganization in advance of the 2026-2027 school year. The District is eliminating a total of 58 positions, 16 of which are administrative and 42 vacancies. The plan aims to save Martin County’s schools $3.9 million annually.
- The Martin County School Board is pushing forward with the termination of former teacher Matthew Theobald, who has been suspended since last year following egregious comments about martyred Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and his organization. A recent recommendation by a state administrative judge called for the reinstating of Theobald with back pay, however the school board is rejecting the recommendation pressing forward with a legal challenge to it.

The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Weather Outlook remains clear without any tropical cyclone activity expected over the next seven days. Persistent Saharan dust from the coast of Africa extends over most of the southern and mid-Atlantic with dust extending over the Caribbean, Cuba, and into the Gulf of America.
- The price of gas fell by five cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded fuel is currently $3.73 per gallon statewide – 81 cents per gallon lower than peak May prices. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.90 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.73, it’s $3.73 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.69 per gallon.
