Dr. Joseph Ladapo has been confirmed as Florida’s Surgeon General. The state Senate voted along party lines to confirm Ladapo as Florida’s top doctor. Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Ladapo last September.
Ladapo’s vaccine and masking messaging made him a target to multiple staged events by Democrats including one by state Senator Tina Polsky who used her breast cancer diagnosis to set up Dr. Ladapo during the interview process last fall. Despite being documented indoors with multiple maskless Democrat colleagues in close proximity the same day, Polsky cried foul to news media when Dr. Ladapo declined to wear a mask to meet with her indoors. She always rejected Ladapo’s offer to meet outdoors that day. Ladapo was also subjected to a staged walkout by Senator Lauren Book during the confirmation process.
The final vote was 24-15, along party lines, in favor of confirming Ladapo.
