(Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) -- Broward prosecutors say they will retry accused double murderer and local rapper YNW Melly on October 2nd, 2023.
The new trial date was set during a status hearing Friday morning in Broward circuit court.
During the proceeding, someone in the gallery yelled out "Free Melly."
Both sides are expected to tweak their trial strategies after the mistrial.
Melly, born Jamell Demons, stands accused of murdering two of his friends in October 2018 and staging the murders to look like a drive-by shooting.
