Masks Now Optional At All Miami-Dade Schools

Beginning today, Miami-Dade Elementary and K-8 students can opt out of the mask mandate with parental approval. Superintendent Alberto Carvalho says they're relaxing COVID protocols thanks to dramatically improved conditions. Miami-Dade's positivity rate is less than 2-percent, with less than 100 cases per 100-thousand residents going into the fourth week. Three-quarters of all schools have had zero cases reported in the last week and 63-percent of all students are fully vaccinated. Masks were made optional in all high and middle schools last week.
