Florida reported fewer than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. The weekly trend for daily cases has now dropped below 2,000 for the first time since June 28th of this year. Hospitalizations for COVID-19 have fallen to 2,333 entering Tuesday.

In other news, the trucker shortage in Florida is leading to significant starting salaries and big bonuses for new drivers. Salaries exceeding $100,000 and bonuses in excess of $5,000 are now common.

Lastly, two of the eight remaining school districts in the state mandating masks without parental opt-outs, in violation of state law, are changing their policies. The Seminole School District will make masks optional effective November 1st and the Brevard County School District is making masks optional immediately. Miami-Dade announced on Friday that they’re considering a mask optional policy as well based upon the decline in COVID-19 cases.
