The 62nd annual Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show gets underway today leaving lots of cash for the city in its wake. It's one of the region's biggest money-making events---marking the official return of tourism to Ft. Lauderdale. The 5-day show means thousands of guests will get to see the newly renovated convention center Mayor Dean Trantalis says safety is top of mind but since 80-percent of the show takes place outside-masks are not required and there will be no temperature checks. The show brings in well over a billion dollars of economic investments to the state and provides over 8-thousand permanent jobs.
