Broward Could Appoint Permanent Superintendent

Broward could have an official school boss by the end of the day. Dr. Vickie Cartwright has been on the job as interim Superintendent since July, but her contract prevents her from applying for the permanent position. Board Member Nora Rupert is so pleased with her performance she wants the board to appoint her which does not violate contract terms. Cartwright says she would be happy to accept. Cartwright replaced Robert Runcie, who resigned in August after being charged with felony perjury. If the school board appoints her -this would save the district from spending tens of thousands of dollars on a national Superintendent search.
