Center of TS Fred Moves Inland Over the Eastern Florida Panhandle

(Cape San Blas, FL) -- The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Fred came ashore this afternoon near Cape San Blas. That's about 60 miles from Panama City Beach.

Fred had winds of around 65 miles per hour when it made landfall but has decreased wind speed to 50 mph. Heavy rain and storm surge continue.

On the forecast track, Fred will move from western Georgia on Tuesday across the southern Appalachian Mountains to West Virginia by Wednesday.
