A South Florida clinic is under investigation after several patients claimed they never got procedures they paid for, Local 10 says.

Mariana Mata told reporters that she paid Xiluet Plastic Surgery a total of $10,000, but no one returned their calls when her surgery was suddenly canceled. She is among other patients who allegedly never got word of canceled surgeries or that they couldn't have a specific procedure done with a doctor they chose.

“I’ve been completely ghosted,” Mata said. She added that the facility only returned her calls after she posted bad reviews about them. "[Staff] said in order for you to get your money back, I need you to delete both reviews. And I will be emailing you a waiver from our lawyer stating that you will not say anything negative about Xiluet."

Joanie Camden flew from Georgia to have surgery at Xiluet, which is located at 8396 Southwest 8th Street, but staff said the doctor she originally signed up for wasn't available anymore. When they reportedly pushed her to choose another doctor, Camden claims the doctor recently had a patient death.

“There ended up being a situation that took place ... the death of a client that had [a Brazilian butt lift], she said. A written complaint to the Florida Department of Health alleges that Dr. Stephanie Stover committed medical malpractice "by improperly injecting fat too far into a patient’s backside," Local 10 learned.

When Camden refused to switch doctors, Xiluet allegedly kept her money.

At least 20 women have filed similar complaints, according to the Florida Office of the Attorney General. They are now investigating.

“It’s modern-day thievery in the guise of medicine,” attorney Andres Beregovich told reporters. “And it’s something that ultimately, the state of Florida needs to witness and perhaps legislate. Because at the end of the day ... this is a haven for medical tourism.”
