Florida’s win over the CDC in court on Friday sets the stage for the cruise industry to begin normal operations in Florida effective July 18th. Mediation has been ordered again in the meantime between the state and the CDC, with the CDC having until July 2nd to offer guidance that would be constitutional. The CDC was found to have exceeded their constitutional authority in issuing the no sail order and offering arbitrary standards for lifting it. 

Florida’s weekly vaccine summary provided great news regarding Florida’s COVID-19 case count over the past week as our trend hit the lowest level in over a year. As of Friday, Florida averaged 1,529 new daily cases, approximately 500 fewer than the prior week and the lowest weekly trend for new cases since June 12th of last year. On a related note, as of Friday, nearly 11.2 million Floridians had been vaccinated with at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.  

Lastly, Florida’s Blue-Green Algae Task Force meets with Palm Beach County officials on Wednesday to address the toxic algae crisis’s impact locally, including the recent algal issue in the drinking water in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach and South Palm Beach.
