Florida’s weekly trend for new COVID-19 cases has broken below 3,000 for the first time since October 19th. On Thursday, there were 2,893 new cases reported. Furthermore, 9.8 million Floridians have been vaccinated with at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine with 7.8 million who’ve now completed a vaccine series.
In other news, in addition to the bill ratifying Governor DeSantis’s renegotiated Seminole Compact making it to his desk on Thursday, so did the Social Media Platforms bill. This is the legislation that bans social media censorship of political speech in Florida and could set up a showdown with multiple big tech companies.
Lastly, tomorrow the first Unclaimed Property auction since the onset of the pandemic will take place at the Miami Airport Marriott. Items not claimed by Floridians are eventually sold at auction.
