Men Are Bigger Wusses Than Women

Look, I’m the first to admit. The thought, let alone the reality of childbirth is something I can’t personally begin to imagine. It’s for that reason above all others that I have no doubt women are the tougher of the two genders. But now we have another, a far less effective anecdote, I also identify with, that broadly backs it up. It’s about bugs.

Research sponsored by Zevo and conducted by OnePoll found that when it comes to creepy crawlies 22% of women are “afraid” of bugs compared to 32% of men. All in, 64% of people say they at least somewhat fear bugs. You can count me into the mix.

It’s actually less that I fear bugs because that’s not really the case. I spend so much time in nature and outdoors it’s almost never the case that I’m not being bitten by spiders, mosquitoes, and sand gnats. It’s really more about the killing. Ashley, my wife, has no problem taking it to whatever bug is in her path. Me on the other hand, not so much. But I suppose in this case it makes me and her somewhat normal.
