COVID Vaccine Hesitancy Among Police Officers

Vaccine hesitancy is something that's been talked about a lot lately, as demand for COVID vaccines starts to wane.

That hesitancy has been felt among the ranks at local police departments, but Jupiter Police Chief David England says he can only encourage his officers to get the shots.

"Obviously those in law enforcement are the first line so there's more of a concern of being in with the community and a lot of different segments of it and a lot of exposures that maybe you don't have if you are in a different industry. So we definitely encourage it, but we do leave it up to each individual to make that personal decision."

He says among the officers he has spoken with in an unofficial basis, about half of them either intend to or have already gotten vaccinated.
