Sunday’s vaccine report from the Florida Department of Health showed that 6.3 million Floridians have been vaccinated. This includes 3.4 million who’ve now completed the series.
On a related note, Florida’s four FEMA operated vaccination sites in Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville will only administer the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The decision was made by FEMA as Florida is set to receive 300,000 doses of the J&J vaccine this week.
Governor DeSantis signed an executive order banning vaccine passports in Florida. The ban applies to businesses in addition to government entities. Governor DeSantis said the requirement would create two classes of citizens and erode medical privacy rights.
Laslty, today is the first day Floridians 18 and older are eligible for vaccination in Florida. Additionally, those 16 and older are now eligible at the FEMA operated sites. This comes as Florida experienced a surge of new COVID-19 cases with those under 40, coinciding with the Spring Break timeline.
