Florida’s weekly trend for new coronavirus cases was higher for the 7th consecutive day. On Monday, 3,374 new cases were reported.
Nearly 5.7 million Floridians have been vaccinated with at least a first dose of a COVID vaccine with over 3.1 million Floridians having completed the series based on Monday’s vaccine report from the Florida Department of Health. This week should produce the most vaccinations to date.
Florida’s federal vaccination sites operating in Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville, will remain open until May 26th and total daily vaccinations will rise from 500 to 3,000 at each site after Governor DeSantis directed the state to supplement the federal vaccines to maximize the capacity of the locations.
Governor DeSantis signed the first bill into law during this year’s state session. The law provides COVID-liability protections for all businesses and health care providers which have complied with state health guidelines during the pandemic.
A new study by the Insurance Research Council showed over one in five drivers in Florida are uninsured, the sixth highest total in the country, leading to higher auto insurance premiums for the insured.
