Florida’s daily and weekly trend for new COVID-19 cases rose for the third consecutive day on Thursday as 5,773 new cases were reported.
Over 8 million doses of a COVID vaccine have now been administered to over 5.3 million Floridians. This includes over 2.9 million Floridians who’ve completed the series.
Approximately 2.5 million additional Floridians will be eligible for a COVID vaccine as of Monday as Governor DeSantis announced the lowering of the age of eligibility for COVID vaccines to 40. Preregistrations for those newly eligible begin today.
Homestead experienced the most crime per capita in Florida last year with over 42 victims per 10,000 in population, which was 7th highest of any city nationally. The better news, even for Homestead is that like much of the state during the pandemic, overall crime actually dropped by 24% in 2020. Baltimore had the highest crime rate at over 81 victims per 10,000 residents.
