Florida News That Impact You – March 23rd, 2021

Florida reported fewer than 3,000 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Florida hadn’t experienced any days below 3,000 new cases since the first week of October.

As Floridians 50 and older became eligible to receive a vaccine on Monday, Florida closed in on nearly 5 million Floridians having been vaccinated. As of Monday’s vaccine report from the FDOH, 4.95 million Floridians have been vaccinated including 2.74 million who’ve completed the series.

On a related note, FEMA announced the sites they’re operating in Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville, will remain open for first dose vaccinations through at least April 7th. The sites have been offering 500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine daily.

Arrest records from the greater than 1,000 people detained in Miami Beach over the weekend, showed over half were from out-of-state. Mayor Dan Gelber stated Monday that Spring Break “isn’t worth it” to Miami Beach.
