Florida News That Impact You – March 9th, 2021

The Florida Department of Health reported the fourth consecutive day of declining new COVID cases with 3,312 reported on Monday. Still, the weekly trend for daily cases stands at 5,300.

Now, nearly 2 million Floridians have received a completed schedule of a COVID vaccine based on Monday’s Vaccine Report from the FDOH. This includes 12,875 who’ve received the one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine which is in the process of being rolled out across Florida. An additional 1.6 million Floridians have received a first dose of a COVID vaccine and are awaiting a second.

Today is Election Day for 19 municipalities in Palm Beach County and 5 in Broward. Polls are open from 7am to 7pm.

Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran clarified the concerns over the approximate 80,000 “missing” students. He stated it appears most aren't dropouts but rather homeschooled children who weren’t properly reported to their former schools by parents.
