Florida News That Impact You – March 2nd, 2021

The Florida Department of Health reported 1,700 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. That was the lowest total of new cases since June 9th, 2020.

However, Florida ended February with yet another decline in COVID vaccinations. Fewer than 8,000 total vaccinations took place on Sunday, that the lowest since New Year’s Day as Florida has continued to struggle with obtaining new first dose vaccine supplies. Governor DeSantis said Florida is scheduled to receive 175,000 doses of the just approved one-dose J&J vaccine this week.

On a related note, DeSantis officially expanded vaccine eligibility in Florida for all school employees, law enforcement professionals and firefighters who are 50 and older.

Lastly, today is the start of the 2021 State Session and Governor DeSantis will officially kick off the session with his third state of the state speech at 11:00 am.
