Florida News That Impact You – February 19th, 2021

Some of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you in South Florida.

The COVID trend continues to be our friend in Florida. There were just over 5,100 new diagnosed cases reported Thursday by the Florida Department of Health. More than 2.5 million total vaccinations have now taken place in Florida. That includes over 1.3 million Floridians who’ve received a first dose and more than 1.2 million who’ve completed the two-dose schedule.

On a related note, the Moderna shipment of COVID vaccinates scheduled for this week still hasn’t arrived due to logistics issues resulting from the winter storms across the country. That’s led to another day of delayed appointments predominantly in Publix locations.

Florida AG Ashley Moody joined 16 other AG’s calling on President Biden to resume ICE operations targeting sex offenders. Dubbed Operation Talon, the ICE initiative to crack down on human trafficking was ended after Biden signed an executive order. Operation Talon arrested 19,700 illegal aliens guilty of criminal sex offenses. According to the Polaris Project, 77.5% of human trafficking in the US is conducted by illegal aliens.
