Florida News That Impact You – February 18th, 2021

Some of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you in South Florida.

Florida’s trend for new COVID-19 cases continued to drop on Wednesday. With just over 7,300 COVID-19 cases reported, Florida’s weekly trend for cases dropped to 6,621, that's the lowest level in three months.

Once again, more Floridians were vaccinated with a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, than a first dose on Tuesday based on the latest report from the Florida Department of Health. This includes more residents of Broward and Miami-Dade having completed the two-dose schedule, than are waiting for a 2nd vaccine dose. Florida’s peak week for first dose vaccinations remains the week of January 10th.

As expected, the delayed Moderna vaccines previously slated for Florida this week have started to cause statewide postponements to previously scheduled appointments. Most of the impacted appointments are at Publix locations.

Lastly, Governor DeSantis called Rush Limbaugh the Babe Ruth of radio. He likened his political impact to that of President Ronald Reagan.
